Why do I need a database and what can it do for my Business or Organization?

Databases are created for the purpose of collecting information in an organized fashion, in a centralized location. The databases are created in Microsoft Access because it is a software product that can be easily modified and upgraded. Sargent Software creates these databases based on the needs of the organization with the data that is already being stored by the organization. Sargent Software will train employees to manage their own database so that they can create queries and reports to analyze the customers that are being served. Examples of Recent Databases Created by Sargent Software:

Food Services Database – Inventory Management database which records and aggregates the food items that are used on a daily basis (food items going out as well as new products coming in). Cafeteria Managers can view the current inventory on any food product or category of food. Various locations report their own inventory so that the Director can track each location or view the total of all locations. The ordering segment of the database enables each location to order food products for designated date ranges that are preset by the Manager.

Services and Donations Tracking Database – Database which houses contact information for a multitude of Organizations. The database records donations that were made by date, amount and purpose in order to track the progress of a particular campaign. Services and products are also recorded so that the manager can view all of the organizations that provide a particular service or product.
